Real Reform

The ultimate goal of libertarianism is a society with complete personal and economic liberty protected by government and the courts. The tax and educational reforms proposed are but two possible parts of a transition.

Our country transitioned into a Federal Republic from a simple republic of sovereign states over time. A return to the true intent of the Constitution similarly will require time and incremental steps. No society easily survives radical upheaval. Thus, an incremental approach having a fixed completion date and an unswerving dedication to principle as a goal is needed.

There are, however, some basic changes that are necessary for the transition:

text bulletPassage of the Enumerated Powers Act
text bulletReturn of all authority to the states as guaranteed by the 10th Amendment to the Constitution - - - except as delegated by the states to the Federal government
text bulletRepeal of the 17th Amendment to the Constitution
text bulletReplacement of all taxes with user fees - - - except for those Federal government functions specified in Article 8 of the Constitution
text bulletElimination of all laws infringing on personal and economic liberty and choice - - - with a strict protection of those below a well-defined age of majority or consent or in cases of mental incapacity to enter into valid consensual agreements

This is not intended to be a complete approach. Rather, it is a beginning that will return our country to governance as intended by the Constitution and the compromises forged by our Founding Fathers.
