Our Books
Novelist Jack Maples and illustrator/researcher Drew Pallo produce historical
fiction about the Southern War for Independence that appeals to a broad
audience by:
- Creating direct story lines that challenge the conventional wisdom
- Incorporating the most historical accuracy possible
- Integrating little known facts and incidents within each tale
- Developing strong characters and relationships
- Describing battle scenes supported by maps that appeal to historians
- Bringing the story to a conclusion with a message
- Making the reading of the story as enjoyable as it is thought provoking
Our current and planned works include:
Reconstructed Yankee, a fictional biography of a black Confederate soldier
that focuses on the struggle of a free man of color to overcome racism
in 19th century America.
The deMoreau Chronicles, a trilogy of alternative histories, featuring
a time traveler who must change the outcome of the Civil War under a variety
of different possibilities:
- Jackson’s Option - A Confederate
victory in 1862 (2005)
- The Hamlin Conspiracy - A three-way
war following Lincoln’s assassination before ever becoming President
with a baseball in the ending (In production)
- Final Alternative - Jackson survives
Chancellorsville, but no Gettysburg!
